The sunroof is prolly the only thing keepin Bob from chasing this one. ;)

Wrecked a rare sunroof car.

You're right Ross, a few things about C-Bodies are deal breakers for me. Sunroofs are on the top of the list. Dealing with roof rail seals leaking with no solution is enough to deal with. I probably wouldn't buy another 1978 Formal......not even a Salon.

76 & 77 NYB's are the sweet spot for Formals.

Yep, especially without Lean Burn and ATC II.

This "Leprechaun Special" must not have a T&T column in it since it has a Grant wheel.

there is an easy solution..............keep it out of the rain. that's not possible when coming to a show like carlisle where you are out for more than a day, but most of the rest of the time it is. Ragtops have their drawbacks, but i can not imagine living with a htp and not yearning for a ragtop.

Tell me why a 78 formal is less desirable than a 76/77?

The #1 reason is the wiper cam. When it breaks there are no replacement parts on the planet....period. I've wasted a ton of $$$ on used wiper cams and they all failed. The final fix I used was using parts from a 1976-1977 NYB and cutting and welding a makeshift repair. The question with 1978's is when is the wiper cam going to fail, not if it will fail.

Wiper cam (used only on 1978 cars)

And the final fix that used the smaller wiper cam from 1976-1977
