The tags are hard to read because of the paint. One tag said special handling car, what did that consist of? 360 2bbl engine. Thanks

Special handling usually consisted of heavier rear springs and shocks and special police only torsion bars on the front. Some cruisers also had a different boost ratio for the power steering. There was also an LA series handling package that had a shorter pitman arm and different steering linkage to shorten the turning radius on some models., I am not sure if that was still available on a B-Body cruiser in '78. To increase frame stiffness, some cruisers also had additional spot welds on the rear frame rails and additional support for the rear cross member. Special tires and wheels were usually also included. You would have to find the build sheet to see what all was included on your particular unit. That era of cruiser will usually have the build sheet stuffed into the top half of the rear seat cushion under the springs for the cushion. With a 360 2BBL engine, this was most likely a city police unit.

Am interested Dan. Have been looking on and off for a replacement of my ex-American Embassy '75 Fury Sedan for 12+ years now. It was a 360 2-Barrel car to. Rubber floor mat etc.

I'll send a PM. Thanks.

If not a "city police car", possibly a detective's car or used for some other administrative officer? Enough "chassis guts" to do occasional "work", but without enough engine for any real high-speed pursuit work, I suspect.

Could be an interesting car to put back into action?

Cop cars came in 2 flavours, Patrol (with more mundane power plants) and Pursuit (with the sought after HP options).

Everyone wants a Pursuit with a 440. Patrols...not so much.
