Hi Everyone, I have some pics of the progress on the painting of my NYB. Changed the color from Cadet Blue to Starlight Blue Sunfire Metallic. It was a long process because it was one of those "work on it when you get time" deals. He's had it since April and finally its just about done. I took off all the chrome work to save myself some money, so I'll have to put it back on when i get it home next weekend. All the door jambs were resprayed as well as the undersides of the deck lids and hood. The engine compartment is also done real nice. They painted the firewall and rad support in the SBSM and left it a little on the dull side just like it came from the factory. The also shot the inner fenders in satin/flat black like original. (I'm not a big fan of all that hi-gloss engine compartment stuff like a lot of guys do. I like it the way it came from the factory.)
The white pinstriping is on but they are waiting on the door protector moulding. It will be chrome with dark blue center. I think it will look pretty sharp. The got a box of it but it was wrong. The box said 2 thirteen foot pieces but was actually 2 eight foot pieces.
I have included a couple pics of when it left my house at the beginning of the project and some in the shop all taped up along with the ones from today when it was outside.
I'll get some better ones once I get it home next weekend.
Hope Everone Has A Great Thanksgiving!!!

I just spent $4250 for a new gas furnace....

Wish that cash would of went on new paint.

And posing with a Kenworth, very nice
He specializes in painting tractor-trailers, buses, fire trucks etc. He has a paint booth so big that you could put a complete tractor-trailer in, plus a regular size one for cars and trucks that he also works on. Really nice shop! And does really great work!

Looks great...I like the darker colors on NYB's
The guys in the shop were even wondering what I was thinking by changing the color, but once it was done they were amazed on how nice it looked. The owner said it looks even bigger! If that's possible!
When they sanded it down they were amazed that there was virtually no rust on the car at all, which made me very happy!
They had never seen a car from that era in better condition.

I hear you on that! I've been putting this off for a few years till I could squeeze it into my budget, always something getting in the way! But that's life what can you do. I'll let you know what he charged me, I haven't gotten the bill yet..can't wait! LOL

I love what I see so far and can't wait to see it once you've got it all back together. IMO you can't go wrong with any of the blues.

Bring it to Carlisle in July 2015......I would like to see a Formal win something. LOL!
