A few years ago I sold my old Newport, and regretted it the second I handed over the keys...

I told him if he ever wanted to sell, let me know first.

I loved the car, but needed the $$ at the time. I'm sure you all know how it goes..

The guy traveled with some friends from up north to get the car. Knowing where the car had went, once in a while I would check the local craigslist up there for s#its and giggles once or twice a year. I even tried contacting him a couple years back seeing if he might want to sell.

Today for fun I checked craigslist, and about s#it my pants! There was my car!!

There was a brief description and one picture. Man he hasn't seemed to take care of her. Looks like an accident of some kind happend with the passenger side front. He tore the vynal top off. And its missing some trim.. God knows what else...

I gave em a call with no answer. Then emailed em. They emailed back saying they would call me soon. That they were in the hospital with their daughter. I havn't heard back.

I think I'm gonna try, and get her back. I miss the car badly. Buuttt, she sure needs some work now.

What do you guys think? Should I bother? The car is pretty unique. Not posting the ad till I know what I'm gonna do...

If you let it go again, you'll regret it forever.

I know... Not sure if I'll get the chance again.

What price are your memories and how it makes you feel? In the end that's where the value is.

Very true. Money is tight at the moment, but can make it happen. A buddy is willing to go get it for me as long as she still runs, and drives.

Just sucks seeing it in the shape she is in

If you get it, is it going to wait and wait and wait while you're tellng people you're gonna fix'er up someday?
I'm being serious, Zac.

Buy her back and save her. She needs Some love and is not getting any in its current state.

It does suck to see her like that. BUT how much $$$$ are you willing to put back into her?

If you can get her back at a feasible price $ + what you know you need to bring her back up to scratch $$$ = :D then go for it!

if not, save your time and dough and put it into the Monaco.

I know you are, and it is a real concern. If I do get it, the Cordoba would probably go on the chopping block.

It would have to wait a bit, but I know I would get her back to atleast where she was before, to be driven.

The cordoba is next after the bluesmobile. If I sell it off, and get the Newport, it would be the same order.

No she isn't. She needs some help.

It looks Damn good with those Dog dishes.

Those are the wheels, and tires off the monaco. They did look damn good on her! But I liked the sleeper look with the caps. That car has, or atleast had a very healthy 400, with 915 heads, and other go fast goodies. She would get down to buisness! Had a 4.10 suregrip out back

The Monaco would deff be finished first. Then work on the newport. I wouldnt do it at a money stand point. Its more a love for the car. Yea it needs some $$, but would be worth it to me.

If the car still runs, and drives. And also has all the missing parts I think I'll be good with that. If shes missing a lot of parts, and he blew the motor I'd have to walk away...

one in the hands worth 2 in the bush...would hang onto what you have unless you realy want the other one...gona take alota coin to bring it back...even more if present owner knows ya want it....

Go get it Zac......

You're a young guy....you have plenty of time to fix it up one day.

I like the Newport more than the Cordoba... but it isn't me you need to please. Most of the cars I let go and missed were too far gone for anyone else. I believe you will have regrets either way, follow your passion.

The vinyl top removal may have saved it a bit as it looks to have been stored outdoors. The sunroof is a nice feature if in good shape and a PITA if not. You have intimate knowledge to judge the underbody condition. Just make sure you know when you will walk away due to price or condition before you go check it out.

I remember you selling it, why was that exactly ? For me it was space for another car. Then the disappointment of selling but keep in mind the reasons. Condition is a big factor, even with the possibility of buying it back, do you really want that? I didn't and don't as I can buy my brown 71. So much has changed and leads us back to the other thread about a childhood house. Some things are best left a memory where the legend can live.

I'm as torn as you are on this one....because then you'll regret selling the Cordoba
Where does it end?

Tough call, one word............... SUNROOF,,,,,,,, but that's me. The doba would be tough to sell off, especially with the time you have in it. Doba's are around, sunroof cars are not as easy to find. I had the same sellers remorse when I sold my 73, needed $$$ at the time. The car needed nothing, and it got flipped and donk'ed sat in all weather conditions for a few years then disappeared. I wouldn't want it back today. Best of everything either way in your decision.

By the looks of things, It's fate is bleak. Personally I like the style of the Newport over the Doba. Reminds me of an Imperial somewhat, big and bad.

I bet we all have at least one that we wish we had held on to. There are also reasons you let it go. If you can afford it, and the place to keep it I would say grab it. I agree with the sentiment to not just get it and let it sit rotting away, but you don't have to make it your priority either. M 0

I have a pill that can fix that....

Zac What If's can drive you bonkers believe me. What if you asked that "girl from high school out" What if "you took that job in another state" what if "You didn't sell that Newport". Regret can be a good motivation later in life if you don't do it now I have a feeling we will be reading a thread from you 5 years from now saying how you found a Newport just like the one you used to have but it needs a lot of work and parts are hard to find. I will always have a Doba to sell you in case you get the itch...my .02$
