I may be wrong, but I think the thread on the shaft is a fine thread. 1-14 UNF

1-8 UNC is a coarse thread.

Not saying you can't get the nut a LOT cheaper through other sources... Just saying I think that's the wrong nut.

Yes, it is a 1-14 fine thread used on the box. That jam nut is available as a fine thread from them at the same price.
My local hardware store got me fine thread Jam nuts for my steering box the next morning (no shipping ) for less than $2.00 each.
