Anyone ever buy heads from them, right now after pricing what the cost will be to buy heads have them machined and a valve job looks like the best bet is them comes ready to bolt on.
 
They have been selling those heads for years at shows like nats they really have become cheap $ since there are so many alum heads out there. I have bought s.s. valves from them, they are part of indy cyl head.
 
Yea I read some bad things about them. Some guy yesterday tried to sell me 400 heads off of a 75 cordoba. The chambers are smaller in the 72 and up heads right it would have lowered my compression and would have ran like crap. I am starting to see what type of crooks have the stuff I want. These people think they have gold. Thinking of going with 440 source aluminum heads. At this point I'm thinking after getting heads checked and a valve job figuring 6
$600 including buying the heads from someone.
 
Most aftermarket aluminum heads aren't a direct bolt on, especially 440 source. They should still be sent to a shop and checked before installation. Same with Edelbrock.
 
What's wrong with cast iron heads???
 
Nothing just want a decent set and looking to spend $100 I need to get them checked still and everything that might go along with bringing it to the machine shop. I don't get people saying oh well I'll just let them sit. Yea because they want burials at sea and the heads will anchor them down. I am wonder about the 452s will those lower the compression should I go with 346 instead. The cam has a .477 lift.
 
I am putting a set of 452 on a stock 70 short block with the Mopar 284/484 cam. The pistons are .080 down and the heads actually cc out at 90-91, I don't have a buret just a graduated cylinder close.enough, with a .017 steel shim gasket comes out around 8.8: 1 sounds like a 89 octane engine to me I might just square it up and assemble or still could cut a little, still thinking. I will ditch the 2 piece valves for stainless one piece springs to match the cam and some clean up in the ports. Point is don't get so caught up in compression ratio losing one point let's say 9 down to 8 will only cost you about 40 horsepower in a 400 horse engine and the 8:1 will run on crap gas.
 
Ok I found a set of heads from a 440 will those work like I said I am still wet behind the ears. Is there any mods I need to make.
 
All big block heads will work on all big blocks with rare exceptions. What casting # did you get?
 
I will find out tomorrow but I said I was looking for 906 heads and he said he had a set off of a 440 but ill be sure tomorrow.
 
Well the guy got back to he has a set of 452 heads in better condition low miles for $100 so I think I will go with those. Another quick question I called another machine shop for a set of 915 heads completely redone with bronze guides and ready to bolt on they want $750 does that sound like a high price or about right.
 
If the 915's are truly ready to run, I'd go with those personally... Price seems about normal to me.
 
The 915 are a close chamber head. There better for a high compression engine. Its a step back from the 906's you were running.

I still have to stop at their shop to see what he has, he might have 906 heads or 452s, but this set is already done but I am in no hurry I would like the 906 heads, why is it a step back just curious. I upgraded to a 4 barrel changed the cam, lifters, springs, timing chain, I thought higher compression heads would be better.
 
Higher compression used to be the Holy Grail. When Sunoco 260 was around everybody wanted C.R. The only step above 260 was alcohol.
Today you're capped at 9.5 for practical street use.
Or go retarded timing, eggshell throttle, and octane additive while paying for premium.
