ah... so I can't use my stock air filter with my Eddy. I'd really prefer NOT to go with an ugly *** open element.

Anybody got any options?

You can cook a hamburger on that factory air cleaner on a 90 degree day.

What's the difference in dimensions?
Not enough that it couldn't be modified... but I also have to be honest with myself in that, when I really rip into this motor, I'll do the carter over anyway.

Just checking in because I was never sure that open element was the way to go with these engines.

if its an early carter it will have a smaller air horn than the edelbrock.
use a late model base. (69 and up should work)

They do make an adapter to mate them up, it does add about 3/4" but that should fit easily.

Ah. That'd explain it. Ok! Open element it is for now.

if im correct in memory, the 360 and 383 2 bbl base air cleaner opening is the same as the carters,
if it is,i have a base unit no lid tho just pay the shipping n its yours.

gurus,please confirm size?
edit: i myself run open air chromies but id Rather have a dual snorkle,
even an Rv unit would be nice.

and derp..hes going to eddy from carter..derp.
pay no attention to the mildly confused man in the corner....

All good bro!

The early AFB's, BBD's, etc. had pretty much the same air horn size through the mid 60's, somewhere around 4.5" or so. The AVS when it came out went to a larger air horn, around 5-1/8" or so, and that's the same size used by the new Carter/Edelbrock/Holley 4 bbl carbs in almost all instances I'm aware of. Those measurements are rough, don't take them serious, but they'll give you an approximate guess.
