Hi all,
Selling my unrestored 1966 Fury III hardtop. I have the full story on the car from the day it was new. One of the last 66 models produced, has a factory police speedometer. 318 Poly. 105k original miles. Owned by a reverend in Glendale. Bought it when he was 18 and kept it until he died prematurely in his 50s. Has protect-o-plate and everything. Love this car but can't afford to keep it. Has some bondo on it but no rust. Never been wrecked just a few spots of repair here and there. Body is very straight, chrome is perfect. Glass is all original and doesn't have a single chip! Original chicago car but moved to Cali in 1967/8. Drives straight, runs smooth, big attention getter! Paint is 90% original.

Welcome! Love the Fury. So, what makes it a factory Police Speedo? The "Certified" script on the plate? Anyone know anything about that option?

Thanks guys!

The factory police speedo was installed because the car was produced at the end of the 66 run so they just threw in what parts were available.

And the car has very small patches of non original paint. So I'll call it 95% original then.

Nice car, but a non-sensical statement there..."Oh, here's a cop speedo, let's just "use it up" here on this job"...That speedometer doesn't just get "tossed in" a build. Look at your broadcast sheet. If the speedo is indeed a factory-installed unit, it's gonna say on the build sheet, under "Speedo".

I guess no one knows what exactly makes it a cop speedo? It's a 120mph like the non-cop Fury speedo. I suspect it is the "certified" script on the speedo plate.

seems plausible that towards the end of the year (final year of body design, too) that the factories would equip cars with varying options to use existing parts inventory. And yeah, it (and other options) should be listed on the build sheet too, right?
