Hi Guys and Girls,
I am about to remove the front bumper, valance and headlamps from my 72 Fury Gran Sedan, due to the usual issues arising from 50 odd years of grime and other debris building up in the region.
Could somebody advise of the name or part number of the black piece of thick and tough rubberlike protector that crosses the space between valance edge and then ttowards engine
It would prevent road debris such as water, rocks and dirt from entering the lower engine bay and allow rain out. It attaches to valance with plastic clips on one of its edges.See photo, the piece is in this region.
I have the FSM that contains engine, lubrication, electrical and lots of other chapters, however the bodywork FSM means finding a PC with CD-Rom. Not easy nowadays.

Splash shields. DMT has some, but '72 isn't listed. It might be worth a call or email. Mopar C Body 70-71 Chrysler New Yorker 300 MEGA Splash Shield Set Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if '71 was the same. If yours is complete, they may be interested in copying them.

You can also buy the material from them and cut them out yourself. It's not too hard, I've done it.

You can always be relied on Big _ John. Thank you.
The splash shield on my car is complete, however it's torn ( drivers side).
I am going to follow up with the link you've sent.
All the best

The part designated as "PANEL 7-26-15" in the following illustration is original part number 3573288.

Probably "masticated rubber"?

For the 1972 Chrysler models, there was a mid-year TSB issued to address the problem of a/c hoses blowing apart in the summer, while driving in slow/stopped traffic with the a/c running. The TSB stated this was because the hot engine air, in certain conditions, would re-cycle directly back into the a/c condenser, causing higher head pressures and the hose durability issues.

The Kit spec'd by the TSB included die-cut pieces of "masticated rubber" between the valence panel and the bottom of the core support, plus side pieces which went from the grille to the core support. Otherwise, a Thermostatic Ignition Control (TIC) valve was added to the thermostat housing, to change the vac advance from ported to manifold, so the engine speed would increase a bit under the elevated engine temp situation, until things cooled down (when it reverted to the normal ported vac orientation). Our '72 Newport Royal had the 400-2bbl V-8 and factory a/c. I was under the impression that all factory a/c C-bodies got that fix?

Enjoy!
