Melody Drive-in.jpghttp://cinematreasures.org/theaters/9027 Any of you have a local drive-in theater? I am fortunate enough to have one just 20 miles away. They actually run first run shows every weekend during the summer. I am looking forward to taking in a couple of movies, in the 300, this summer.

My cousins 13 old daughter actually approached me and asked me if I would take her and a girlfriend to a show this summer. I was thrilled and that she thought of this on her own, I hadn’t mentioned going in front of her, so this was her own idea. The car was her grandfathers and the drive-in is in the town he lives in. I have left the car to her and her brother in my will, so I‘m glad she is showing interest in the car at an early age.

I just found this site. When I was trying to determine if there where any other drive-ins close by. There where a lot more in Ohio than I thought. http://www.drive-ins.com/ I just found this one which I can get to on some beautiful back roads around 1 hour + away. I was surprised to see that they actually have a digital HD projector and digital sound. http://www.skyviewdrivein.com/

This one is about 25 miles south of me. ONce a year they have a cruise, the old cars get to park up front. They show an old movie, Bullitt, Smokey and the Bandit, American Graffiti ..... The first year they did it they had shown the Disney Movie Cars.

This one is outside of Carlisle, not to far from the fairgrounds

...............To add to that thought it is unusual for a 13 year old to show an interest. Embrace it, she'll never forget it, thats what it is all about, the memories

I have no kids but I thought that was unusual to have the interest, and I will embrace it, she is the first young relative who has had any real interest in my car passion. I remember that for myself I was about 13 when I really showed a strong interest in cars and mechanically how they worked, but I consider myself a car nut and not normal. On the other side her younger brother who is 8 has no real interest. I remember the first time I took him for a ride in my MGB he was transfixed with the manual window crank (he had never seen one before) and the whole ride he rolled the window up and down.

Probably because he was 8...... My grandson, now 7 liked to go for rides in the convertible. He's now in Idaho so that isnt happening anytime soon.

The niece's parents have no interest in cars what so ever?

The Friday night cruise was originally at the Big M Drive-In on the grass in front and around the restaurant People coming to the drive-in movie use to come early and walk around and look at our cars before the movie started. After the drive-in closed down for good, the cruise moved around a little to different sites and now it's permanently at Lowe's.

Kenosha has a nice one, but the mesqutoes suck ya dry by the middle of the movie. I was down in Ruskin, Fl a few weeks ago and they had one that looked pretty nice.
