Anybody seen this connection???

During my brake light stop switch repairs I came across this connection. See picture.
I would be very appreciative of any information as to its function. I know, see the FSM, but I’ve had a Fury for only 6 months, and enjoy the forum with its host of interesting and informative characters!!

That is an inline splice to add another wire in to get power.

What year fury? 1956 or 1976?

Sorry about that- it’s a 1972 Fury gran sedan 4 door hardtop.

Might be for a cruise control connection.
