I live in Woodland, just northwest of Sacramento. I've been to/through Groveland a few times - years ago. When the kids were young we used to like to stay at a campground just past Groveland, about 5 miles out of Yosemite. We usually went in the fall around the end of October. It was always the perfect time. Crowds were gone, the weather was still good, it always went well. Now that I think of it - my wife and I are going to have to do that again.
