Hi. I would like to bench test my 65 AM/FM for my wagon. There are power red and orange wires. Also green and black which I think are speaker. Any advice appreciated.

Be sure to have the speaker wired-in BEFORE turning the unit "on". On a "mono" unit, speaker wire phasing (which wire goes to "+" and "-") might not be as important as if there were two speakers involved. You can find the wire phasings in the FSM electrical schematics, as I recall.

Enjoy!

I’ve found the easiest way to test radios quickly is to just hook it up inside the car. There might be enough slack to test it right on top of the transmission hump or the old radio might be quickly removed in less time than it would take to rig up some bench test apparatus. Just be sure to ground the unit if testing it on the carpet.

Orange is the light. Red is power. Green and black are speaker, won't really matter which terminal for testing. Ground the case.

Don't forget to plug in an antenna.
