People are freaking out about this......

I can assure you that there is ZERO spying on the locals with this test.

There is other stuff (not mine) keeping an eye on things. Remember we are only 45 miles from Washington D.C.

Aberdeen is a lot further than 45 miles to DC. When I lived in Owings Mills, it was 52 miles. Aberdeen to DC is more like 74 miles.

As for not spying on the locals, then why deploy it? So they're deploying a surveillance system but they're not surveilling? Why waste the people's money? It's more mass slave training. Gov't and the media doing their best to keep the slaves scared and in line so they can continue spending largesse without question.

Though the radiation mapping abilities of the blimp are pretty cool. It'd be interesting to know if they really are looking for something, but I doubt it.

Testing the mechanical and atmospheric systems upgrades.....the spy capability testing was completed and deployed years ago...no testing needed. We've been testing this system for years and no one has ever complained about it before.

You have to understand how the system works.
It is not the government looking to step up surveillance.
It's the contractors. They keep their eyes on the political scene, and come up with a way to get rich off of trending hot topics.
They ram answers down the throats of lawmakers to questions that were never asked by lobbying gazillions of dollars. None of this stuff would be happening if there wasn't a way to make TONS of money off of something for somebody.
Whether it's Surveillance Blimps or Red Light cameras. I rest my case.........

I think it's a bit naive to put the blame on the lobbyists and not think that the lawmakers aren't in bed with those same lobbyists and making their money. I mean why spend hundreds of millions of dollars for a job that pays $250K a year (POTUS)? And even several million for $150K in the case of other legislators. You (companies) don't spend that unless you know you're going to make it back.

These tethered blimps have been around in many forms, since the late 'Teens...that's 1910, NOT 2010! They are mostly used to extend surveillance coverage to give ground radar sites (both military and ATC) extended coverage for air traffic. These are being used also for detection of sea-launched cruise missiles and other threats, which can be easily launched off cargo ships by terrorist groups. I really don't think they are using them to look in your bedroom or hot tub.

I have nearly zero trust in government, or their power-hungry members in all three branches of gub'mint. But, I am familiar with the functions of these blimps.

They are very useful in Afghanistan and previously in Iraq to keep an eye on Hadji at the unit level.

Actually I have no problem putting them over crime riddled, thug infested neighborhoods. Let's start with L.A. in the west, Baltimore in the east, and East St. Louis (the inspiration for Hill St. Blues) in the middle.

Love it.........

I went for country ride one warm Saturday night a few months ago.....

I ended up in one of those hoods.....with no firepower with me. They were jumping up off the park/bus benches and walking around the NY'er while I was waiting for the light to turn green. Got back to my hood ASAP. LOL.

Rule #2

Never go anywhere without firepower!
