Had, an opportunity to drive out to the Bonneville Salt Flats; SCTA speed week. Pretty cool to see the cars as and their builds. Only a couple of Ma Mopar products 65 Baracuda and a stream lined one , along with custom fabed stream liners. Theses where the best class to watch on the long track.

A buddy is running a 150cc bike out there. Got cancelled by strong crosswinds, he'll run first thing tomorrow (Tuesday). Going for the record of 130 mph.

yes the bikes just returned from bolivian salt flats . i know the owner and a few of the ack attack crew streamliner bike . they didn't go record but it was a party time on the salt . bolivia's pres came with a couple thousand crowd . but those flats are huge . and hard as a rock . in fact so hard n abrasive was the salt . it wear out tires front and rear on a single pass . and bonny's course is to short for them to try for a record . but i know some that are there . go pass by pass if i can .

i've been building a 38 dodge pick up for the flats with two engine classes in mind . xo and xxo engine classes . no newer engine then 1959 . so early hemis are employed a 55 desoto 291 and a 56 chrysler 354 . both blown of course . these are full on racey motors than must survive , peddle to the metal for a few miles . i've a lined myself with some great guys , that now the salt flats ropes sort of speak . my desoto is a proven design and the chrysler is as well . but its an out of pocket deal . and parts can be costly . and not to mention hard to impossible to find . so costly tooling equipment is purchased for the builds . and on and on i go , lol . i ran a 37 dodge on the streets and it went 160mph , so there arrow enough . just looking at 200mph but biuilding for 250mph just in case , lol .

just for a reference tires were @ 7k for my machine . old vintage firestones bonny sport speed specials 6.50 x 18's . found fire from 1962 when tommy grove took the melrose 1 n 2 to the salt . there in great shape , one in the firestone banade , so its nos . and the others are very close to them . with just one full pass on them . see them there , been stored in a basement . out of the sun lite and ozone layer as well . until in uses .

More pics, unfortunately on Wednesday there was a full course shut down. Two spectator vehicles collided, causing most victims being air lifted to Salt Lake City, all emergency personal were involved we it their rescue and extraction from vehicles. But all competition vehicles were frozen at the start which allowed for some close shots. hummm, won't upload photos will t try again

More pics, all in all good day. Now that I know; first day get a spectator spot between the fuel truck and vendor/ pit area; walk pits as needed. In pound area after first couple of passes, another opportunity to get close to cars. The added thing I did is at some point move to start areas, you can get real close to cars and watch them leave start looking down the course. All in all, if you have a chance go, every one is nice and things are real layed back.
