I thought I’d do something easy this morning, like choose which of the three brake pedal assmblies I will instal in the vert. Of course, what seems easy, is never easy. I have two from 1970 and one from 1973. The upper mounting bracket is the same on all three, the ‘73 requiring the least work at refinishing, so that’s a no-brainer.

Then I took a look at the pedals.

From left to right, ‘70, ‘70, and ‘73.

Ok, so the ‘73 is out. The odd-ball bend is probably to accommodate for the vacuum parking brake release.

Then, I just had to turn over the two from ‘70. WTF?

I never would have guessed that the tread was adjustable at some point. I will most likely go with the fixed tread, since my OCD will never allow me to find the right adjustment, but then again, which one is right for a late build 1970??

:BangHead:

I’d personally go for the 1 in the very last pic.

It is so hard to figure out which of the 1970 pedals would be correct. Chrysler had a big habit of mid-year part change overs. Good time to figure out your build date then look at the part books.

And the plot thickens! This is the one in the parts car, build date 10/30/69, BUT it is a power drum car. The build date of the vert is 6/11/70. One of these is the original to the car, I’m going with the non-adjustable one.

Walked out to the garage and snapped a pic of my '70 300 vert. January 8th build date.

Thanks, John. Anyone with a '69 want to chime in? My guess is the adjustable tread is early build/'69 carryover.

so i'm off topic on this thread just a little, put i added a power booster to my car. however it is a manual transmission. i have searched the junkyards for a pedal cluster that combines the clutch with the bolt pattern on the booster. i have looked at literally 40-50 c bodies and never found this combination. Did it even exist or am i searching for the impossible? i find that hard to believe, am i missing something?
