On the 70 Polara, with weight off the front suspension (i.e. hanging) should the front brake flexy be tight ? the new hose is the same length as the old but the tester didn't like it and nearly failed the car because of it.

It should pass behind the spindle, which would mean if you turned the steering in your case, it should cause a failure in the hose and that is not right, period. Are you sure it is routed properly. Can you post a picture, does not have to be with wight off.

Is the rubber stop for the upper control arm still there? Hard brake line in the right place? Correct wheel cylinders?

Most brake hoses will interchange by fittings - it's just the length, which will be on the specifications for each hose.

Look at 1980 full size vans for longer hoses.

1980 full size vans have CALIPERS up front -- and hence, have "banjo fitting" hoses -- and not male-female hoses of 4 wheel drum brakes......
so thank you, for your response, but it is 100 % incorrect......

I have found that with all of those hoses I have replaced, yes they seem too tight when the suspension is hanging, and I don't like it either, but it also seems the originals were no different. It is better, I believe, to get one that is just slightly longer if you can find one in stock at the store you frequent with the same end fittings.

Right, sorry, I forgot about that! Thanks Craig!!

In explaination, years ago I was looking for longer hoses for my various disc conversions, and so came across those! Didn't even think about the fitting ends being different...

Just for shits and giggles, are there adaptors that can make banjo fittings work with wheel cylinder inputs, or is that a no-no?

Ultimately Allan, if Craig is saying he has hoses that are the right length, your search is over!
