Dumping the two tone will help, too/
So we're talking rims, tires, paint, at a minimum.
I wonder if he filled all the trim holes with weld or bondo..... I'm afraid to think which.

Original blue car, too bad. At least those are just cheaply painted wheel covers and could be replaced with something stock but they did a number on it with that paint job.

Wheels would help a lot but the interior is not my taste & would be a deal killer. If the interior were simply black, I'd give $4,800 for that car in a heartbeat.

Depending on how much bondo it has...

There's most always a reason for a lower quarter repaint in this cheap two tone way.
In Europe this was done often in the late 60s- early 80s with black underbody protection.

I'm curious why you're wondering that. What's the preferred method? I'm planning to plug my trim holes with kitty hair because it's tougher than Bondo, but if I ever sell the car to a purist, he can grind off all the paint & find the original holes still. Then just punch them out & reinstall proper trim. Welding is too permanent in my opinion.

Jillian, as you get to know me, you'll find out that I'm neurotically anal to a fault, and at the detriment to my mental health, that I'm a stickler for there is only one way to do things and that is the right way the first time.
Of course, I'd kill to take up smoking again, too....

Ah, so if I understood you correctly, you disapprove of Bondo AND fiberglass, and if I want to eliminate the trim I should break out the welder. (The presumed "right way the first time") And if/when I feel like selling the car I should then find a buyer who didn't want the trim either! :)

I don't mind that car at all actually, as a matter of fact, I like it except that the bodywork looks questionable. Those wheels/wheel covers, whatever they are, would definitely be coming off though.:puke:
