i have a 65 383 4 barrel where the stock AFB is worn out. Yes, I can rebuild it but I'm looking at other options. Lzoaokiang at the Edelbrock Performer carb. I know the carb is duel pattern as far as bolting on but are the ports on the intake big enough for the butterflies to open?

I had a 273 where I bolted a Performer on with no problems but not sure on the 383 intake

If memory serves those old AFBs have a smaller diameter carb throat so the eddys won't take the same air cleaner if that's important to you.

FYI the carter AFB and AVS are about the easiest 4 BBL carbs to rebuild known to man, well actually me and I am man

i have an adapter for the aircleaner. I need to know if it, the EDELBROCK will work on the stock 65 intake

I don't know what your 383 intake is like, but on my 65 413 intake, the butterflies would not fully open. The bores on the intake were a little too small. I used the intake from a 67 440 to solve the issue. I used the Edelbrock 1411 carb, BTW.

That's what I was thinking. I have a 68 4 barrel intake that might do the trick
