Subject of the carburator - My 66TC has a stock 383 with a 4-barrel Carter. For those of you who have installed the Eddy 1406, did you have to change your intake manifold or just used an adapter plate since the Eddy was a square bore?

If you changed the mani which one did you go with?
If all you did was add an adapter plate, which one did you use?
Did you have to modify the linkages any and if so what did you have to do or is there a kit of sorts?
I'm looking at Summits catalogue so if you have one could you give me the reference for the mani and adapter plate?

Whereas it appears most of you fellas have 440's I ONLY have a 383 and it's bone stock which may or may not make a difference on what I get.

I was told that the Quick Fuel carbs were preferred over the Eddy by several sources anyone have any experience with this brand?

Thanks in advance for the help/suggestions!

The "eddy" carb is in fact a carter, Edelbrock bought the carter carb company and rebadged them as edelrocks. You will find that they bolt up the same.

1406 Eddy real sweet

image.jpgMy 66 300 showed up with a transplanted '71 440 and a very badly set up Thermoquad with monkeyed linkage not the 383 and Carter 4131s I was expecting. Immediately went down to the local speed shop and picked up the Eddy 1406 with the chrysler linkage kit. They supplied a Mr Gasket spreadbore to squarebore adapter bolted on the Eddy hooked up linkage adjusted throttle cable and Voila the 440 came alive. Biggest hurdle was finding a steady 12v supply to run the electric choke. Tapped off of the temperature sender for now but proper fix coming. Really happy with how easy the Eddy was to tune. Next step is the Eddy intake but up here thats a 6 week wait. As this car has the transplanted 440 and non original seats don't feel too bad about the mods. My other 300 is stock and purrs with the Carter

A 440 with a single circuit master cylinder? I'd switch over to a dual circuit master B4 the Eddy intake IMHO - SAFETY FIRST!!!

Might explain why it had absolutely no brakes when we picked it up lol. Disc conversion on the todo list.

Hey gents. I'm new to the forum and need some direction on my 75 New Yorker.. It has the 440, the OE Carb is junk and needs either rebuilding or replacing / upgraded. I'm leaning towards aftermarket / Holley or Eldelbrock. Any direction on an aftermarket Carb that will work? All stock Eng, no upgrades or aftermarket parts on it.

Thanks
