Carpet Question 68 Newport

Any one have a picture of original installation? My Newport did not have a carpet when I purchased it, and I'm wondering about the gas pedal linkage plate area. Does the carpet get tucked under the gas pedal linkage plate or under the steering column plate? Any pictures or description would help greatly. Thanks.

Thanks. but what I need is a picture of the fire wall area, where the steering column and the gas pedal linkage plate mount to the fire wall. I ordered sound deadener and padding, and still have to install it, but what I'd like to know is how this area gets trimmed out.

The carpet goes on top of both the column cover and gas pedal bracket.

You have to cut a hole or slit for the pedal arm.

To the best of my knowledge it is the original carpet. I pulled the car out of the weeds last June and it hadn't been on the road since sometime between 1979-81.

FWIW, that looks original. Same thing I was going to post. The king just beat me to it.
