My grandpa owned a dealership before I was born & I remember as a kid playing with these boxes that had plastic slides of different models that you could overlay different colors of paint & interior to show what the car would look like with that combo. They actually worked pretty well.

Does anybody know what those are called or where I might buy one?

How big were they?

I searched eBay with no luck. The transparent slides were maybe 18" X 12" or so. The actual box itself was a little bigger than that.

I have a couple of color and trim selection books from `68 for the Dodge model line. In them are outlines of each model on a clear film that you can place over all the available colors. They are much smaller version of what you mention at about 3" X 7" but still kool. I'd like to see what you are refering to.

Dealer sales aid.....

I have seen them before. They were popular in the 50's mostly. About 2 feet wide and tall with a back lit screen and plastic inserts of each car style and color.... Really cool...!

They are quite rare but do pop up now and then. Keep an eye on ebay, ot the HAMB site is a good source for odd stuff. I have seen them for sale at Carlisle also.
