Correct decal placement and why can’t I find them in the Parts manual?

When I tore this car down (68 Polara) 10 years ago I thought I took enough pictures. It turns out I have very little on decal placement. In some cases I was lucky and accidentally got them in the picture. In other cases?? I also cannot find mentions of them in the parts manuals. Are they hidden somewhere else? I will start by posting the ones I know about. And then will ask questions on some of the ones I am not sure about.

Coolant decal on radiator support. Towards the left edge of radiator (drivers side)

Air cleaner decal. About 3:00 to the right of the air horn on 2bbl.

Emissions decal. Top of Right front inner fender.

Now for some of the ones I don’t have or are not sure of. 68 Polara.

I am not sure of the correct placement of this one. Right now I have it where the thermostat and summer antifreeze decal goes. (Towards the right side of radiator on radiator support. Earlier I could only find far away pictures showing a decal that size, but since found that the one I have put there is not the right one. I don’t remember this decal or where it goes.

Also aware that I am missing the battery jump start decal that goes on the radiator support above the battery tray.

Why does the jack decal look to big? There really doesn’t seem to be a good flat place to put it on the trunk lid.

Am I missing a tire pressure decal here? In searching I seem to find them for other cars but not C-body.

Manufacturer certification goes in the left front door jamb, on the lower A pillar, midway between the hinges, mounted vertically so that it’s read from the outside of the car (with the door open). The jack instruction is just slapped on the right side, crooked and wrinkled and not fully flat. Yes, there should be a tire pressure sticker where you indicated.

This is interesting. Where @Clover indidated the proper location of the Manufacturer certification there are two holes. One open and one with a rivet through it like a plate goes there?

I had the certification sticker backwards. It’s read from inside the car.

The holes are where the VIN tag used to go until ‘68. I don’t know why there’s a rivet in one. Seems a little odd.

Back when the cars were newer, there typically was no interest in many of the decals. The ones that were available (hidden in the respective areas of the parts book), were usually superceded where possible to newer ones. In current times, the restoration industry has them a lot of them in repro, more A/B/E-body in orientation, though. Might need to check various vendors to get the ones like your vehicle needs. On many, there was a small 7-digit number one them, which usually was an original part number, I seem to recall.

Seems like the radiator/coolant info decal goes over one of the places on the core support/body where the VIN is stamped in the metal, to hide the VIN?

Car looks good, from what I saw.

The holes Maybe not so odd based on my fender tag. It has a scheduled production date of August 15. So very early 68 production. Could be a leftover?

The rivet is a mystery. It is tight so it doesn’t seem like anything was ever attached to it.

Not a "leftover", but during the "transition/first build" time, getting ready for the '68s to start full production in Sept, I suspect. The "targets" were already there in the stamping, most probably, so a line worker might have not remembered to not drill that hole for a rivet, too late?

I actually found a website Friday that has a number of those decals. AndbI found a picture where I could see my thermostat and summer antifreeze decal. I would throw it on here but is on my computer. Maybe later I will post a link for future.

I am sure it was a blank in their stamping die. It probably took them a little time before they realized the hole was still there before they changed the die.

I have numerous factory manuals and none mention decals which doesn't surprise me in the least.

I could believe that from factory to factory and year to year they were all a little different depending on who put them on. My coolant ones are opposite from yours. I did have pictures of those before tearing apart and the emissions one is on top vs the side like yours. I suspect the trunk one was probably random on which triangle they picked to place an oversized rectangle decal.

many of the decals on cars were not serviced even though they may have a part # on them...it wasn't until the 1980's that they were

I did learn a little tidbit today about the tire pressure decal and the CAP idle decal. The last two digits on the decal p/n which are a little larger should match the number on your broadcast sheet. I did not know that.

Now I need a little help for my tire pressure decal. I am not sure I am finding what I need.
As above the tire code on the build sheet might match the tire pressure decal BUT earlier ‘68 models and earlier didn’t always do that.
My tire code was 53. I found an “early 68 B Body” p/n ending in 53, however it is calling out 7.75x14 and 7.75x15 tires instead of the 8x14 tires. I did find another example of an early 68 b body that was completely different.

Does anyone have a picture of a ‘68 c-body tire pressure decal? Preferably on a car built prior to January 1968

I've seen a couple tags riveted in that area.

One was a tag that was showed that the odometer had been changed or altered and it showed the actual mileage. It was a popular used car lot trick that was so common in the sixties and seventies that I never believe "low miles" claims. The tag was on there long enough to get driven back to the used car lot and then somehow, it mysteriously fell off.

The other was a replacement VIN that was assigned when a car was stolen or stripped and the original VIN tag was gone. I have a couple friends that had Mopars like that. One was stolen (from him) and came back without a VIN tag. The other has an unknown story.
