The 69 Polara has a bunch of idiots bidding. One apparently is the eBay version of a hoarder who bids on everything. Then him and another are also the type who go up in small increments incessantly. I bid I only bid in the last minute as I never tip my hand.

When I see bidders who have dozens of bids out on a whole universe of different cars that pretty much means someone looking to hit a good deal in order to flip the car after.

This auction is getting a lot of bids even if they aren't very high. I wonder what the fate of this one will be?

This one is definitely a time capsule, and a desirable one to me - but alas, too many cars already:

I'm betting the Polara will become a really nice cop car clone.

As for that Rbody. It's a `base' New Yorker with leather seats. The eagle emblem on the right headlamp door doesn't belong. Methinks the inheritor believes the car is worth megabucks. Apparently no one told him the window regulators in those cars self destruct, the rear bumpers peel like a bad sunburn and the chassis is based off of a "B" body. So it's no "king of the road" to begin with.

I actually worked for Chrysler when that 1979 model New Yorker came out. I personally felt the R bodies were some of the nicest handling and best riding cars the corporation ever made, and I got to drive a lot of them. Even the Cordobas were also very good in those departments. I can put up with replacing the window regulators and fix the bumper if I need to, but I will always have a good feeling about those cars even if they didn't have all the best materials one could put in a car. I thought they looked unique and interesting. Equipped with 360-4 bbls, they were also reasonably performing. Yeah, the seats have a bordello look to them, but they were comfortable. One car that has always tugged at me would to be to find an R body cop car and restore one. They were neat.

I have two favourite "R" Bodies. OK, three. One is the '80 Limited Edition with the small back window, stainless roof panel and the vinyl panel on the decklid. Also the first generation Fifth Avenue, not in that pale beige colour, but the dark walnut finish. And finally I want a St. Regis Touring Edition in vintage red with 10 spoke wheels.

'79 Gran Fury bare bones see-dan. Steelies. Hubcaps. Sleeper SB under the hood.
You get the idea...
