O.K. De Soto Joe, You are obviously not among the eastern 300 club membership or you would already have this guyz information. This guy advertised the correct balance tube hoses a while back and probably still has them F/S. $38 + shipping for the set. Rinaldi and Sons 207-474-2611...BTW, I think your Napa store blew you off IMHO, Jer
I have emailed Rinaldi and Sons and will call in the morning. Thank you for the lead!
You are correct, I think the young woman at the counter, the other guy working the counter, and the manager, all didn't have a way with the NAPA BIG system, even with the part number in hand and pictures I brought. Instead, they sold me a scrap piece of 1.5" fuel hose and wished me luck. Also you are correct, I am not a 300 club member. We had a 61 Imperial, then a 66 Belvedere, when I was a kid, and I've had several other "Chrysler products", but not a 300.
I bought a 68 Charger Black/White 318-Torqueflight to get to College.
For $750, I bought from a friend, a 65 Coronet with a "Ramcharger" two lights grill, and had the desire to build a Max Wedge, instead of a Hemi, because those parts were far cheaper in the early 80's. While building the engine, a drunk in a Honda jumped the curb and totalled the Coronet, but his insurance company let me keep the engine and transmission. I'd lost my way when I'd traded a dusty 1960 Ram Induction intake (manifolds only) for that Max Wedge's Crossram. When the Coronet was destroyed, by the drunk, I gave up on getting carbs for the Crossram, and traded that intake for a NOS in-the-box 340 six pack intake, for a ratty 70 Challenger convertible I had just found.
The shredded white convertible top did go up and down, the white interior was needing a lot of work, and the cracked fibreglass rear fender flares needed replacing (in the end I replaced the whole body from a junk yard gutted 71 hdtp, except the original two-scoop Plum Crazy power budge hood). But that POS did start right up from a hose leading from the passenger seat floor gas can, so for $550 bucks I figured I couldn't lose, as I drove it home.
Turns out the sludge on the engine was imported, a junk yard 318, not the 340 the vin code promised. Two years later no 340 blocks anywhere (pre-internet), but the body was looking good in primer grey, new top on (what a struggle), and interior all but done. No engine. A 318 with a Six Pack wasn't thrilling me.
So one day I move some stuff in the back of the garage, and that 'Max Wedge' long block (for the Honda-destroyed would-be "Ramcharger" Coronet) stares me down.
Woke up the next morning, went down to 7-11, the new Recycler paper was out. Sure enough a guy had a 440 six pack complete for sale. My NOS in the box 340 six pack in trade, and some cash later...
A 1963 413 60-over to 426 with 11.0/1 Max Wedge pistons, a 284 purple cam, 440 Six Pack intake, 906 heads, rebuilt 727, 3:23 posi- 8 3/4, really did fly up over 127mph, of the 150mph possible, by the gauge in that Challenger convertible. No hood pins, and as the hood started to lift up at 100mph, at 127mph, I backed off.
I sold the Challenger, as it wasn't much for just cruising, and years later bought someone else's dusty 1961 Ram Induction set complete, except the couplers are worn out.
So thanks again for pointing me to Rinaldi and Sons, so hopefully, for $38 plus shipping, I can get back to my fin fun roots.
