I believe you are mistaken as to the application. That is a vacuum amplifier used for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems to amplify the venturi vacuum signal from the carburetor to operate the EGR valve in concert with the load on the engine. It yields smoother acceleration than the ported EGR systems used for the earlier nitrogen oxide reduction control strategies for Chrysler's various engines.

And they rarely worked for very long either.

I agree with Steve, I've never seen or heard of an amplifier for the cruise control, but I've seen plenty of those contraptions for the egr.
