<sigh> Frustrated and needing to vent. Never in my wildest dreams did I think restoring dads car would be so frustrating or costly. Wish someone would have warned me. I've been trying for months to find body parts. Salvage yards say "we don't have one of those or we'll call you back". That's ok, I can deal with that but today when I tried cleaning up the wiring harness, I discovered that this "stuff" can't be cleaned up with soap and water like the guys from the shop said. Soak and then scrub clean...are you kidding me? I'm looking at alot of corrosion here and you want me to clean it like a greasy pan? Uggghh. My dad was an electrician who specialized in corrosion control. He'd roll in his grave if he thought I'd let anyone put this stuff back in the car. Why not just put a match to the car once I've put all this money in it. Would be the same results in the end. So, now I'm going to try to find someone to rework the wiring. I guess crying on the back porch won't help either. Dear hubby didn't know what to say other than "don't be upset, it's only money". Dang, when did we win the friggin lottery? Oh well, he's off to Speck's to buy some beer. That may help. Have to say, I've got a great husband! Going to "pantie up" now. Just needed to vent.

How come murray B doesn't ever answer the phone or return messages...............Is he that busy ??

Yes, Murray is that busy .......he is the only C body yard there is. A full time job, family and his C body business, wouldnt you be?

Marion, you're not feeling anything that most of us here haven't felt at least once themselves.
No matter how over your head you feel, there is no problem that can't be solved. The impossible simple takes a little longer than the difficult. Rather than only envisioning a finished product, take each new problem as it's own jigsaw puzzle where you work on ea pc. and figure out where it goes.
My car needs nothing done and my wife asks when will I be finished with it and I still say never.

Just keep telling yourself...."IT'S A GOOD THINK THIS IS FUN....IT'S A GOOD THINK THIS IS FUN". Then take baby steps, one problem at a time.
What car are you working on...? Someone here may be able to help with parts and pieces. A lot of the wiring on C bodys will interchange to a large degree. Just ask...!

Pretty sure that's the first time the term "pantie-up" has been used on this forum.
These cars do require some patience and persistance. Keep at it.

All it takes is ONE wire to short out and you have a real possibility of burning your car to the ground. Don't take a chance with that wiring harness. Just take a deep breath and take your time and replace the wiring harness. I see the boys made several great suggestions for you. It'll take a little time and patience but in the long run you'll have that sense of relief that you eliminated that bad wiring harness every time you turn the key and take the car for a ride.

After the dash fire I got a very good used harness from Murray for the Monaco. He picked up personally every time I called. Quick delivery and a reasonable price to boot.

I am sure he does stay very busy but i have tried via email and numerous phone messages to no avail...............I will just keep trying.

I talked to someone in his family, daughter I think.
He has a full time job and he can only devote nights and weekends to the business.
Guy must work a hundred hours a week. God Bless Him.
My best bet, believe it or not, has been to call him around 10:00 PM. He has always answered the phone then.
I say this only because he has returned my calls as late as 11:00 PM and I asked him if calling so late was OK and he said it was the best time to get a hold of him.
All I can say is....
WOW.

Yep, Hell of a guy!
