Dash dial

Hi everyone, I recently bought a1970 newport and was wondering what the dial is next to the map light switch on the dash.

Check the owner manual, but I suspect that it is the dash rheostat (brightness).

Thanks for getting back,unfortunately I don't have an owners manual. I did buy a new bezzle as the map light switch was missing and the dial didn't seem to work. I have yet to install the new one so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for you help!

I believe that @Big_John and @MrMoparCHP have correctly identified the part as a speaker fader rheostat.

that is great information my friends, thank you. The radio doesn't work so that explains why It's not doing anything. Got some work to do on it . Gonna be a fun project!
