Derby guy with mopars

I think pretty much all of us Mopar derby guys had/have a stash like that. I had to pull 5 BB mopar engines out of my Conex today to get to the one small block Chevy engine I have as I traded it for a 360/727 combo. I buried the Chevy engine/350 trans combo three years ago thinking I will never use it, then found a guy wanting one and he had a good running mopar combo to trade.....one score for me, glad to see that GM stuff leave the property.

You may have heard of them referred to as "swirl port" heads. That's what I always call them anyways. They have small CC's, so slapping them on an older 318 will up your compression. But I think they were factory available the same time the small blocks went to roller lifters. So you have to keep an eye on which lifters/push rods you use. But direct bolt on none the less.

The 302 heads also flow better than anything else small block used on factory motors, the best used to be the "x" heads used on early 340's but the 302's were found to flow even more in standard form and has smaller valves. So better flow, higher compression and hardened exhaust valve seats make them superior and desireable.
