Thanks Will, that's very interesting and yes sad in many ways but that's the way it had to be. In many ways the systems that were put in place weren't designed well enough to keep up with the changing world and that's a very general statement.

I was born in Detroit and grew up in the downriver area. I spent a lot of time in and around downtown in the 60's. Used to cut classes at Lincoln park high and ride the Fort st bus into town and have elevator races at Cobo Hall. Then back to school in time for auto shop.
 
Dam Will, You iz old ain'tcha? You must even remember Jerry Cavanaugh. Thingz didn't really start heating up 'til Mittz Daddy tried to hold down the fort in Lansing, and Benton Harbor, and the Motor City. Gordon Lightfoot sung it best I think. We couldn't even keep booze on the shelvez in Ann Arbor 'n Jackson in '68, and not sure about the suppliez in Toledo
