After installing the new rebuilt engine I have noticed the fuel consumption has gone up and the oil pressure at hot idle was not where I wanted to see it. I ordered an adjustable oil pump regulator from 440 source. Took about 10 mins to install. Had preset the unit before install after, took a SWAG at it. Started the car and had over 100 psi. Removed the adjuster and turned the adjustment screw out until about a 1/4" past the lock nut and reinstalled. Started the car and had about 70psi cold. Now the hot at idle in drive oil pressure is about 25 or so.
Second I had bought a Wide band hand held O2 sensor from Innovate Motorsports. LM-2 Wideband O2 Digital Air/fuel Ratio Meter. Started out at about 12 to 1 mixture at cruise after some jet and metering rod changes ended at about 14 to 1 at cruise at 75. Very happy with both products.

Do you use one 02 sensor for both sides or two sensors one for each side?

Nice.... I have a wide band 02 [also innovate] readout on my Omni glhs located after the turbo. I was thinking of one [or actually 2] for my Fury for a constant readout on each exhaust pipe.
Price would be kinda high for permanent readouts for a V8 just to tune. For now I am just reading plugs. I like your idea though and may look into this.

I've made some head way in increasing the fuel mileage. After our 1100 mile road trip got an increase of 1 mile per gal. Up to about 11 or so. That's at 75 mph with the a/c on. May not seem like a big improvement but still an improvement.

That's great! What is your AF ratio at 75 on level ground?

It's been awhile since my last post. I haven't done any more tuning on the carburetor, but I have installed a FBO ignition module and coil. Very happy with the way the car starts and drives. Went for a 4 hour plus drive today. The weather was cool and dry for the Gulf Coast. When I stopped to fuel and did the math was happy to find out the fuel mileage was a little better than 12.5 mpg. That is a nice improvement from where I started. Hopefully will have enough time over the next couple of weeks to make a good run with the O2 sensor and check air-fuel ratio.

Got a chance to go for a ride today with the O2 sensor installed. The weather started out foggy but turned nice later in the morning. Cruising at about 65 -70 was seeing an afr of about 13.0 - 13.2 to 1. After I got back home took a couple of minutes to change out the metering rods. Went for a quick 10 mile run and now see about 13.5 - 13.7 to 1. That is were I'm going to stop. Now just need to work on the metering rod piston springs I have the yellow ones installed and WOT.

The trick is to go to the point where you have hesitation and missfire, then go a step back. You can get closer to 15:1 for cruise, depending on the motor, it might work, might be too lean. Aim for 12.9:1 at wot. 13.7:1 is still pretty rich for cruise unless you got a monster cam in the thing.. That would give you a great improvement in mpg.
