That appears to be an Auxiliary Power Unit, or APU. In various forms, they are used as irrigation pumps, aircraft power units on the ground, and normal AC power generators. At a now-closed local airport, there were two Chrysler APUs that were powered by 392 Hemi engines. I saw these many years ago, and when I heard the airpark was being closed, I called the maintenance guy, who said they had already been sold...damn.

Keep in mind, Chrysler produced the very first mass-produced turbine-powered land vehicle - the Abrams M1 battle tank!
 
Lots of industrial engines in farm machinery also. Slants and small blocks anyway.
 
Chrysler also helped out with the manhattan project when the scientists worked out they would need five years world supply of nickle to make the special filters to purify the uranium and the engineers sat down did the deed without affecting nickel production in the usa which was predominantly concerned with producing armour plate. Also Sperry corporation could not keep up with demand for its shipping gyroscopes as it took 18 months to produce one unit, since sperry was the only manufacturer of these chrysler engineers were invited in to look at the problem and they got the production methods sped up to a whopping two weeks to produce a single unit. Couple that with the fact that chrysler produced 80 percent of all american tanks in the war and the majority of the radial aircraft engines in production and you start to see what an impact chrysler had on technology during this time period.

The Chrysler 361 was used in the first version of the Army's M113 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) in 1960-1964. 1964 the Army went with a Detroit Diesel 6V53.

I was in the 3rd ACR (Armored Calvary Regiment) in the 1970's and we still had a couple of running ones for parade purposes.
 
The Chrysler 361 was also used in the V-100 Commando and was used a lot in Vietnam as well as the M113.
