Good day fellow C-Body Lovers! Restoring a 1698 Polara Coupe. Converted from Drums to Four Wheeled Disc's. I noticed that when I was cleaning up parts, that I wanted to chase the Bolt threads for the Caliper Brackets and the Brackets themselves. The Bolt 1/2 20 NF has an extended nose that helps align the Caliper Bracket. My 1/2 20 NF Die would not fit over this nose tip! So down to my local Bolt Supply House, where with Bolt in hand, they could look it up. low and behold, there it was in the book, and the Die for chasing the thread a 1/2 20 NF!!!! Okay whatever! Back at the Workbench I start chasing threads and noticed that it was taking just a tad bit of tread but not a lot. These machine tolerances are a bit off. The Tap runs through just fine. Any thoughts?

UPDATE: Went over to my local Machine Shop to check on a Rotor Job and happen to tell the Machinist there about my Bolt delima. He walked me over to his Tool Cabinet and pointed to a set of ADJUSTABLE DIES! He went on to say, that these kind of Dies offer you the advantage of cleaning or repairing a Bolt Thread, While the Standard Die will sometimes cut a slightly different thread pitch. Still works, but just a little different pitch.
