I have a 67 Fury with drum brakes all the way around. In the future I am planning on installing the scarebird disk kit. First though I am replacing all the worn out parts in the front suspension . A seller said the ball joints were different for a disk vs a drum brake car and they were hard to find and expensive. Is this true? If someone could shed more light on the subject, I'd much appreciate it.

If you are using the drum spindles which you will with the scarebird kit then you can use those ball joints. A place called rare parts sells them for 80 bucks a piece. Now if you. Had disc they would be the Budd disc brakes and those do take another style ball joint which new go for 325 a piece, so yes do the scarebird kit and buy new drum ball joints they will work.

I have a 67 fury it had original drum brakes all 4 corners when I purchased it in Florida they were in need of some major maintenance..hoses, shoes, cylinders, drums etc so I decided to go the extra mile and upgrade to front disc. Purchased SSBC kit -model A154 for mopar c-body.
Heres there site http://ssbrakes.com/

Everything needed for job was included it went on nice and I was happy with the feel and quality of supplied parts... only ***** was my original 14' rims needed a thin spacer to clear the new caliper which pissed me off as I specifically asked them about this before purchase even though there own literature said 14' min wheel works with this kit.

A 15' wheel clears sweet (tried one off my 71 polara)..Phoned them had a rant from NZ then sent lotsa closeup pics before they would listen.. they eventually thanked me for pointing this issue out (hope they have sorted this or at least amended their paperwork to say 15' min wheel unless using spacer with orig 14' rim).

Needed to do ball joints as well so used rare parts ball joints as 67-fury says above.. no issues there.

I dont know anything on the 'scarebird' kit? But if my original front drums had of been in better shape i wouldnt have gone with the expense and work of upgrading to front disc.
The car was orig designed to pull up with drums up front if properly maintained and adjusted and if its a weekend cruiser I dont need to 'stop on a dime"

My 2cents or dimes worth :)
