Does anyone know what the proper name for the rubberized piece that fits in between the fender and the door. I'm told it's to keep out dirt/dust. There is a part number on them but very faded. Looks like 3967302 RH and 3967301 LH.

If it's for the Monaco it's not original. That P/N was years later. I can't recall a 65 having a shield like that and I have/have had a number of them. The majority of the parts for 65 start with either 24 or 25, and it was a fairly numerical progression through the years. Casting numbers didn't usually match the p/n, but were normally very similar.

Stan, you don't look good in a state of confusion. Yes, these are original to the 65 Dodge Monaco. I'm finding a lot of parts that people are saying don't come from this car. Example....steering wheel that came yesterday. Was told it wouldn't fit. Picture looked like it would. Took a gamble and it's an exact replica of the old one. Go figure. I'm just trying to figure out what these pieces are called. It looks like I'm going to have to buy some masticated rubber from steele rubber and make my own.

You don't happen to have a photo with them in place do you? Like I've said in the past I've had several 65 full size Dodges, there's 5 on the place right now and I've never had less than one since 1972. The only part I've not removed/replaced/repaired is the front sub-frame and I can't visualize any rubber part between the door and fender. Well, other than the door seal, of course, but that's not really to the fender either.

Sorry. I just can't visualize any "seal" that goes between the door and the fender. The P/N's also turn up blank with any search engine.

I'll try to get some pics out today. Please remember, I wasn't there when they took them out. I'm being told that the go on the inner side of the door to keep dirt and water out. Stamped number looks pretty faded. <sigh>

Maybe we should be thinking quarter panel instead of fender, by the looks of the shape. Possibly on the rear edge of the door near the bottom?

If those are the L & R pcs. in the second picture, they're not mirror images as the 01/02 last two digits of the p/n's would indicate.

Heck if I know. All I know is that I was asked to find replacement. We will be going down to the shop tomorrow. I'll take the pieces and try to place them where I'm being told they go and then take a pic. I admire all of you that restore for a living or work on your own cars. If it weren't for the sentimental reasons for restoring this car...I would have called it quits a long time ago and remodeled my kitchen...and bathroom..and... :)
