This is not an original idea. I saw red Dr. Pepper soda caps that were attached to a black battery in a magazine. Theses photos show the kind of new repo battery $$ that can be purchased.

Here is the results of hot glued Coke caps, self sticking letter, a little clear gloss paint and installed in my ride. The battery has been under the hood on several long trips and has held up so far. Time will tell, but it looks pretty cool now.

Just a couple days ago I heard about S27M red cap kit on eBay. That’s a terrific idea.
I had forgotten to mention that a belt sander was used to remove all the raised battery warnings on top of the rectangular vents before the hot glue was applied. I did sand too far on one and had to go back to Interstate Battery and confess that “I was just checking things out, took the tops off and proceeded to drop, then step on one.” They got me another one. Probably shaking their heads as I left.

Interstate still builds "black" batteries they sell to Hyundai, Toyota, Lexus, etc. dealers (with appropriate signage). Also "black" batteries in their catalog, too. Delivered to your door, if desired. Not sure about ones with "caps", so look in their catalog.

Starting with a black battery is a great recommendation, my Interstate had a black main body and a green top. I took all the stickers off and painted the whole thing, added the lettering and clear coated. At some point heat, acid fumes or poor sticker adherence probably will make it go haywire.
The letters were 2”,1”,1/2”and 1/4”. I made the Mopar symbol using a 2” C and I, the penatastar by measuring the one on the fender and a x-acto knife. The thin strips for the box were cut from the edges.
The package deal on eBay is probably a better way to go, honestly. This “look” of the red letters I think is for the ‘67 and under cars. But it looked damn cool, so I gave it a try. Thanks for checking it out.
