Can anyone shed some light on the electric door locks on my 68 Monaco, they aren't working and I would like to know if anyone has worked on ones like I have.

Thanks

You basically have to break it down to, is it the motor or the switches. Describe exactly what's going on, Red.
Trouble shooting 101 begins here.
Same symptom on all windows?

Both locks open with the key but I am assuming that when I lift the drivers side knob manually the other side should unlock...am I on the right track?

Nope...... all doors only open simultaneously with the door lock switch. Only the door you are using the key on will open when you are open it manually.

There is no special switch like the later years. There is a small round ring on my door panel where the knob sticks through that says,"Electric Locks". I am thinking that when I pull up on the knob the other door should unlock too.

You're right, the doors should open then. I know the 1978 Newport's had the same electric door locks. Are you sure you have electric door locks or did someone down the line put those knobs on.

Mike, your take on this? Mike has these type of locks on his Newport.

Its marked on the bezel on the door panel and there is no detent that you can feel when you pull up on the knob.

Did you see the door lock actuator hooked to the linkage rod? Should be 2 wires going to the actuator.

The actuator will be mounted on the bottom half of the door vertically with 2 bolts and the wires are near the bottom of the door/actuator.

I know that the wires are there, dropped the nut for the mirror and had to go fishing.

i have the same system on my 68 sport suburban wagon. i followed the diognostic's from the service manual i checked the controller on the pass side kick panel and the was getting power i swapped it for a nos one i bought and got the same readings so i think its good. i checked connection on the circuit breaker located on the drivers side kick panel and was getting power but not sure if breaker is good. i checked the accuaators on pass front door and drivers rear door the seem to be ok they dont appear to be binding. did not check for power though thats as far as i have gotten. the drivers rear door does not lock at all but i think its the latch which i have parts to replace but havent gotten around to as some times it doesent latch when closed . any further help would be appriciated.
