Does anyone know what the part number is on the back of the 1969 Chrysler 300 headlight door emblem?
Yes you are correct. On headlight doors I have learned that the part numbers are not in the parts book in most case but once the emblem is removed the numbers on the back prove very helpful in locating and making the emblem. The casting number on the back of the emblem might OR might not match with a Chrysler part number. Still, it can be used for ID purposes.

Thanks,Part number is 2898 952
Grilles and their parts are typically listed in Group 7 - Cooling... so I looked there.

I thought I might have one, but nothing here. They were missing from my 300 vert.Does anyone have a 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible fender emblem? I need to verify the part number and pin configuration on the backside of the emblem

The parts catalog list 3444196 for the c pillar on hardtop/sedan and 3444181 for the convertible fender. I suspect that the 3444181 is not a good number as no one has that emblem. I ran into the three hundred emblems the parts book listed 3444169 and the emblem off a 1970 car had 2964807 on the actual emblem. That is what I suspect that we will find on the Chrysler script emblem.Without looking at my parts catalogue, is it not the same as what was on the C pillar of sedans and hardtops?
It is possible that it may fit other applications, once I confirm the actual part number on the backside we will know for sure. The part number listed in the Mopar parts book is not a good number, 3444181 it comes up no where. i ran into this on the THREE HUNDRED trunk lid emblems.I thought I might have one, but nothing here. They were missing from my 300 vert.
@Samplingman has a lot of convertible parts and he may have one.
Honestly, up to a couple minutes ago, I didn't know that was a convertible only piece, although IIRC, that same emblem was used on other applications. Possibly a superseded part number comes into play.
Yes it is weird. I ran into this same scenario on 1971 charger headlight door emblem and it ended up being used on multiple Dodge carsI think so, since the parts book shows it to cover all Chrysler grilles, presumably regardless of placement - Newp, NYr and 300, even though in the Group 8 Ele tical image you posted (with the explosion drawing of the headlight doors), you can clearly see the word Chrysler on the headlight door and Imperial in the other drawing which is the expansion image of the headlight door assembly.
As you noted, your image of the parts list clearly shows there's no listing for anything but Dodge and Imperial in the Group 8 headlight door nameplate section, Chrysler, including Newport, New Yorker and 300 shows up in group 7, presumably because of the emblem goes in different locations on the grille as per model.
Weird!
Yes, I googled the part number too with zero results. Usually, you'll find something, like an old eBay listing, but nothing. It is possible that it may fit other applications, once I confirm the actual part number on the backside we will know for sure. I have a set (I think), but I’m still 4,000 miles away. I’ll be sure to look when I get back, but I too thought they were the same as the C pillar on the coupe, which I know I have. I actually thought at one point that they were stick-on, not sure where I heard that or if that was even a thing. None of my fenders have had holes for pins, so I might have assumed.I thought I might have one, but nothing here. They were missing from my 300 vert.

So this is what I have, one from a convertible, and left and right from a coupe. The posts all are in the same position, but the convertible emblem uses barrel clips while the coupe has speed nuts. The fenders I have are not from a convertible so I cannot confirm the actual post positions. The parts catalog list 3444196 for the c pillar on hardtop/sedan and 3444181 for the convertible fender. Thank you! this clarifies a lot. it seams that the 2964804 emblem follows the pattern that the parts book numbers were superseded as I have found all of the 3444 numbers are actually 2964 emblems on the cars. Those sail panel emblems look like they have the same pin configuration as the fender emblem, that is very interesting as well. I have noticed that Chrysler makes a left and right side emblem but they are identical in most cases. I'm not sure why they did that, the 68-70 charger sail panel emblem was the same way but they are completely identical other than the last digit of the part number. So this is what I have, one from a convertible, and left and right from a coupe. All of these look identical in shape and size. Hope that helps.
No problem, glad to help. I would still like to see a convertible fender with the hole pattern to be 100% sure that they are the same. None of my fenders have been from convertibles so I can't check. The barrel clips make sense for the fender emblems, but could also be the reason for the superseded P/N when they changed to speed nuts. Just throwing that out there, better safe than sorry.Thank you! this clarifies a lot. it seams that the 2964804 emblem follows the pattern that the parts book numbers were superseded as I have found all of the 3444 numbers are actually 2964 emblems on the cars.
