1965 413 Engine colour orange?

Personaly I like just about any shade of Red or Orange.
I don't like the idea of black as it is to dark, maybe a gray.

If the engine wasn't a color you would need to make up for it in aluminum or chrome otherwise you might just as well leave the hood closed.

Why do so many people think copying GM colors for engines and engine bays is somehow a mark of prestige? Seriously? We look up to GM products? Whenever i see a Cbody or Ebody or Bbody and the whole engine bay is painted black, (usually including wiring)and the car is not black I can only shake my head.

Ok well I guess all my years under the hoods of chevy's and ford's that are factory correct down to the bolts holding the valve covers on are correct and seeing many colors other than black were all wrong. I certainly don't pick what I do with my car and what I like based off of anything. I just love the way black looks. Hell our music room used to be all black with blue light. It was a great place. I didn't do that because someone else did it somewhere. I love black and I love dark blue and purple as long as the purple isn't too red. I love black with some aluminum to offset the black as was mentioned earlier. I want some things to stand out but everything else to blend to a certain degree. So sorry for pulling your panties over your head I certainly wasn't trying to do that. I was just sharing my joking opinion as I knew it wasn't the "correct" answer but was just trying to have some fun with it.

All these different color suggestions other than stock are making my head hurt. I think the OP is interested in knowing what the correct color of the '65 413 was in C Bodies. I'll go with 300rag; the correct color is turquoise.

***Note on 1969 and 1970 340LA engines - many were painted Street Hemi Orange - the list below says they all were - for any 340 engine that appears to be more orange than red - if you know it was original - then use the P4349216****Note: I have had much discussion about the years of 1970 and 1971 the RB and B engines - two club publications say blue (Judged sheets etc.) and it appears that official Chrysler (below) says turquoise was correct. On those two years let your original color be the one to use.

LOL. Yeah and I even said it wasn't a stock color later. Was just having some fun.

Yeah. I saw that too. I've looked at many '65 300-Ls, and their engines were all turquoise.

Note that list applies to cars only. Truck colors are different, for those of us that have old Mopar cars and trucks. It also does not list 1965 and 1966 361 engines, as these were also turquoise.

FYI, in 1969, a 340 could've been one of THREE colors - Chrysler Blue, Red, or Orange. Chrysler Blue was universal in all car lines and engines starting in the 1972 MY. Black came into play later, starting in the 1985 MY across the board.

I repainted my 318 poly the factory colour which closely resembles orange but is the Chrysler Red for that year of engine.
