Just curious why the "exact date" might be important? As when the date came to be on the door VIN decal, it was just "month, year".

The "schedule date" can be important as knowing that date would ensure the plant had enough parts and pieces (powertrain, trim items, options, etc.) on hand for production on that schedule date. IF not, the schedule date was still important as it could give priority to that job when all of the needed items were "in the building".

No doubt the Scheduled Date was very important for production process logistics to ensure that the parts and pieces would be on hand by that date. But the exact date that the car rolled off the line was of little importance to Chrysler, unlike like it is to us car-crazy people 50+ years later. :realcrazy:

But the Door Sticker date had a totally different function. When federally mandated safety regulations (and emissions, soon after) came along in 1968 (seat belts, dual master cylinder, energy absorbing interior parts, door locks, rearview mirrors), those regs were issued (and amended) to the first day of a month instead of any given day. This way, the manufacturer wasn't suddenly "illegal" by a day or two and all parties knew what regs were to be in effect by a glance at the Door Date. The way I see it, the Door Sticker was the LAST thing done to the completed car before it was ready for shipping.

The FMVSS compliance label history starts with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966, requiring vehicles to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and bear a certification label. The first FMVSS, No. 209 (Seat Belt Assemblies), became effective on March 1, 1967, and several others became effective on January 1, 1968. New standards and amendments are published in the Federal Register, with the current standards listed in the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR Part 571).

The classic industries catalog wants to know exact dates on the wiper motor harness. Ridiculous, i know!

Meaning it might not be the exact build date as the OP was asking about. Close, but not necessarily exact. The 17th, 19th, 20th of October? Equally likely.

That's a very nice looking fender tag, BTW. Is the rest of the car like that?
I like to think it looks as sharp as the fender tag!

Boy, that thing has had some changes! Went from a 318 auto Sport Satellite to a Hemi manual trans GTX! And B7 blue with white top to black on black.

You've got a SPD of Oct. 18th and the catalog says before or after Nov. 15th. I think that you would be safe to say it was built before Nov. 15th.

BUT!!! I'm reading the line where your fingers are and that's for a 2 speed wiper. That looks like a 3 speed wiper motor on the car, so it's a moot point.

Yup, a 3 speed wiper motor has a built in harness, not a plug in one.
