I' think I've seen genuine cop cars before (and wondered about it the same way) with just the moldings off at the doors where the badges were installed, don't remember a specific car or model year. Edit: There you go. :BangHead:
 
Wouldn't you have pulled the body side moldings off to do a police car clone?

In the DOH, they left all the trim on, except for the front doors for the stars. Even painted right over the trim in most cases.

It is correct there.... lol
