Hi all,

I am pretty new to C bodies, but really like the fuselage years particularly. Anyway, for what it worth, I am posting a car I bought. After looking around a bit for a 300 convert. I took a chance and went with this one. This is what I know about it. I paid the asking price. And, indeed, it still has pretty good oil and trans fluid leaks going…..see below. he took it to the mechanic right before I bought it. I does “seem” pretty solid as far as the body, except trunk, but hadn’t had a chance to inspect real good. She “clunks” real good when shifting into drive/reverse, but “seemed” to shift “ok”

Anyway, any feedback/words of wisdom is welcome, I realize you guys deal in reality, so ya won’t hurt my feelings (well maybe a little, but I have my box of Kleenexes ready….)

Dale

P.S. my favorite color combo on Mopar is red on white. I found this one, though it appears he has another of 16K, so it’s probably gone, plus the only way to afford that one would be sell the other one which I assume I would fall short on getting my $$$ back. I’ll post the ad for the red on in case of interest and in case anyone has time to give their 2 cents on that one too. thanks.
“just curious, can you tell me what the mechanic did?”

“He replaced an exhaust gasket, return power steering hose, transmission pan gasket and filter. He also replaced the sending unit seal on the gas tank. FYI There is still some fluid leaking from the transmission selector shaft seal and the rear main seal.”

One last issue, question for CT DMV (I’m in NC): Hi, I hoped you could help me. I recently bought a car from a guy in CT (I’m in NC)
It was a 1969 Chrysler 300. He told me that it would work the following way:

“The payment was successfully transferred. Thank you. I picked up the car from my mechanic today. It's parked in the garage and ready to go. I had to contact Connecticut's DMV to request a title. When I purchased the car, in state purchases didn't require the transfer of a title, just a bill of sale. I will probably have to mail it to you because I don't anticipate it arriving before Monday.”

However, when I talked to one of your agents they told me they do not issue titles on cars older than 1990. Can you please explain how this works? The papers may not have gotten there yet, I mailed them this past Monday.

Here is the red one that seemed to have gotten away. Says he’s got a 16K cash offer

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5154631386.html

Extra info below

Brakes are relatively new and very good. New shocks, Carter Avs carb, starter, plugs, filter, front window. Have a cash $16,000 offer on hand from today.

There are surface rust under there but the tails are good. Will send you some pics tomorrow. Don't have the time to get under it today

some rust of the bottom and rear as typically these cars had. Not sure on how much was repaired versus protection. The bottom of the trunk has been replaced pretty much. I know it is not an original TNT because the plate tells us a L and not a K for that option. the TNT is complete though with the Carter AVS carbeurator and manifolds, as well as dual exhaust(I replaced the old exhaust as it was old. I also fixed springs in the front seats as they were the original and replaced the original foam that was coming apart. I have had several interest but they are all turned off by the price even before seeing her. Pictures on craigslist does not reflect the actual look. Poor quality pictures after upload.

Hi Dale and welcome to FCBO, that is a sweet ride you have managed to pick up, there are a couple of us that live nearby, I am on the eastern edge of Greenville NC. Maybe we can meet sometime? I'll show you mine if you show me yours. ;) Anyway, regarding titles in NC, if you don't manage to get one from CT then your next step will be to get a bonded title in NC which stays in place for three years and then becomes a clear title. I actually have a copy of the papers you will need if you want to have a look. Cheers,
Gary

I think you did good Dale. You will enjoy that car. That clunking may very well be the rear U joint. Check that first, then the front followed by the trany mount & both engine mounts. Fix those leaks. They can cause major problems down the road & just make it messy to work on the car

hey Gary, great ! thanks, I'd be glad to get together with you. so, what all do you have? would love photos when you get time...

hey Bob, thanks for the kind words, and would love to see photos of your Mopars too.

I have a bunch here some mine, some belong to others, something like 7 cars here at the moment but only three belong to me. I currently have two 68 Chargers and a 70 challenger. All are projects with the 68 RT currently being rebuilt from the ground up and all of it being done by me. A little low on funds right now so that has caused a pause. Check my profile out for some pics of the cars, there is a thread too that i haven't updated for awhile, I really should do so. It shows the progress on the RT.

great ! very nice, I will do that. and can totally relate on the fund shortage issue.....look forward to seeing your rides, sir.

Nice ride there I hope you enjoy it, I remember seeing this when it was for sale. Great color combo I love the saddle interior and am / was toying around with putting something like that in my 69 Sport fury Vert or keep my blue interior and add some two tone platinum into it. The trunk does look sorta Swiss cheesy and I hope that your floor boards are not like that however with that said the rest of the car seems great from what I see in the pictures. Hows the underbelly look ? Rusty or clean ?? that is where your real problems would be........ post more pictures we all love pictures !!!!!!!!!! :eek:ccasion14:

OH WELCOME TO THE SITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :welcome:

Dale I have a 64 Newport I'm gathering parts for. Who knows when I will have time to start putting them on the car. I have that Satellite drag car & a 440 D 150 that is comming along & my 78 Diplomat. And I'm down to just 2 parts cars & neither of them are C bodies. I thinned the heard a lot this year

thanks, Rusty, right, I'm sending a few of the rear, let me know what ya'll think. as far as i could tell the front is pretty good too, but need to look closer

well, the red one is officially been sold to Germans, I assume it will leave the U.S. I still wonder if it was a real TNT car. I never could get that straight with him.

thanks, just to clarify, these underneath shots were of the red 69 that just sold, sorry for the confusion--except the one of the gas tank in the group with my car, it's at the top of the photos i believe...

wheel.jpg FYI, I’d also like to find a set of these road wheels to go on her in case anyone knows of any. Thanks.

looks like a really clean car. the leaks are common for any car that has been sitting for a while. is it just the picture or is the left spring twisted?
