While I wait for my engine rebuild kit to come in I figured it would be a good time to hunt for an 8¾ rear to replace the single shot 8¼ to handle the new engine. After searching the internet, FB groups and ebay I came up with nothing. Surprisingly I called a wrecking yard 20 minutes away and they had a complete 8¾ in a '70 New Yorker that sat in the woods probably longer than I've been alive. I tore it down cleaned it up and replaced the open 2.76 with an Eaton Detroit trutrac and 3.55 gears. I've only have about 50 miles on the rear and I'm very happy with it. Not getting real crazy yet since I want to get the gears broke in properly, but it does pull nicely and the engine doesn't scream too bad at highway speed.
Originally, I was going to do a stock rebuild on a '71 360 I pulled a few years ago, but that has been scrapped for a 408 stroker since the kit was just a little bit more. I was hoping to have that started this past winter, but I'm still waiting for the parts to come in. Once the engine is started I'll have the 727 that goes with it rebuilt and beefed up however it needs to be. Once all of this is done everything on this car will have been rebuilt and will basically be a new car again.

All new gauges wired up and working except the tach light doesn't work. That's cool though the dash lights look better anyway. Zero holes drilled in the firewall. There are plenty of places to fish wire through.
