Curious. What does a fire wall stiffening bracket look like? How does it function? I just never heard the term before.

We have to assume it is for a 65 Fury, and I am assuming it is the one behind the brake booster. Again I know little of the earlier cars.

There are 2 on later models, not sure, maybe 66 or 67 up?
They bolt up to the studs sticking through the firewall from the clutch/brake pedal assembly.

Good point, they sure don't look like they would clear a brake booster. Maybe.

It would be those 2 to the right of the master in that pic. The two above are hood springs.

So we're talking about the 2 rods from the wheel housing to the firewall. @Badvert65 is knowledgeable. Maybe he can point us in the right direction.

Well, from my experience it is definitely not 65 or 66. When did they stop using the thick rubber steering coupler?
It looks like it might be additional bracing for a clutch pedal. It doesn't look like it would be effective for chassis stiffening.
My guess would be 68-70 clutch pedal bracing .

Thanks!! I searched 1965 cars and could not find pics of the rods on any of them. So maybe search for rods from a 1968.

I know for sure they came on 67-68 cars, not sure about 66, but, no, 65 cars did not have them.
I just want some on my 65 because the clutch pedal takes a beating now and then, TY for the help!

The part numbers are only found in the 67/68 parts books

I googled around, brought me back here to a post you made in 2015.
At least it looks like they were 67-68 parts only.
@pomonamissel are these something you might have banging around at your place?

Pic from my '67. Bolt arrangement is different from previous pic but that's the way mine came. Plenty of room for a booster. Finding originals will be difficult but shouldn't be too hard to fab something up that would work.

They're solid. Wouldn't be as pretty but with some schedule 40 pipe, heat, and a BFH you might make something that works equally well.
