Flyin' Newport!

Hello gents,

The 67 Newport is coming along great. The transmission issues were resolved with a rebuild last week from a local shop, some old-school guys who seem very solid. The rebuild came in at just about $1800,which I felt was reasonable. Now the car drives as I would expect, with good acceleration in all gears, and the kickdown kicks down!

Yesterday I drove the car from Tampa to Cocoa Beach (about 2 1/2 hours) and it ran really well. Today on the return trip, I was on the 528 coming out of Cocoa, and had some highway in front of me, so I opened it up and took it to 90mph (with room to spare, just not in front of the car!). I'm no daredevil, but now I gotta get it up to that century mark one of these days. It rode true and straight, just perfect. Cheers from Tampa, Rich

We had my 64 imperial going 110 one night in highschool. The car lifted up it seemed and everything got quiet. For only a short time, there was 6-8 of us in the car. Lucky we all lived

damn prices have gone up...my last 727 I had rebuilt cost me 600$ That covered removal, rebuild and installation

Nice. My stepdad opens a couple of his cars up once in a while and get em up to 100 mph sometimes too. Could we call this "The Flyin' Whale II"? . Nothin' compares to that car though.

Hi Dave, Yes, I try to get the cars out every weekend if there is some cruise-in or a show to go to. I'm over in the Westchase/Town-Country area off Sheldon Rd. Where are you located?

It's a nice gathering, easygoing group, diverse cars. First Saturday of each month. Next Sat. there is a show in St. Pete that looks like fun. It's the Canadian Franco-American Club, 9-3pm, 4265 13th Ave. N.

Thanks Fratzog. Tires and brakes are all new, and front end is as rigid as my d*ck on a Saturday night!
