Your dad stayed in Germany after WWII? These are all german writings in the trucks. Where your father lived in Germany?

Yes, he stayed, he was only 16 at the end of the war. He lived in Köln, same place I was born. My mom is from Bavaria. We came over in '56. If you can see, the banner above the windshield says "Schiffer - Köln". He met her on one of his trips.

My grandfather was driving a truck for an electric appliance company in Germany around that time as well. He remembers one winter where his colleague had to stand outside on the running board and wiping the windshield to be able to see through.
The truck was his only set of wheels after work, so the family even hauled the groceries and other errands with the truck. First private car was bought in 1966.

I had to look twice that first pic looks like a road near grantsville md. we used to cut through had to stay in middle to not scrape stacks, that one looks narrower though. Very cool pics thanks for sharing sorry to hear about your wife.
