I actually don't hate the dash in that car...

Rear quarters on both sides look droopy. Check the frame.

Nothing droopy there. Looks like all other big Mercs I have seen. The place to check in the rear quarters for rust is just behind the rear wheel. There is a drain on the back side which is supposed to drain water that gets in between the inside of the rear quarter and the wheel house. Position can't be seen from the inside and there is only room for one or two slender fingers to get in there. When the 1/4" drain hole gets plugged you will get pinholes since most are unaware.

So many nice Fords but that dash is awful

I agree..

That dash looks like the old radio my Grandfather used to have in his garage back in the day, right down to the knobs and speaker grills on either side. I asked him to turn it on once, said he couldn't, because the ''tubes'' were burnt out.

I remember the tube stuff, going to the store with dad to get tubes for the console...they had a tube tester near the counter

I remember the first couple of black and white TV's we had that had tubes. Took forever for the damn thing to warm up. Three channels to watch and no remote!

Probably why I dont mind the dash, it at least has a vintage appearance. Not anywhere near my favorite by any means but interesting.

True, but it is not one of Ford's best. I ought to know because it was the same in 1967 and since I have a Park Lane it has the exact same dash. Not ugly mind you as much as boring. The 66 dash was much more interesting.

You were in the middle of nowhere. We had three VHF channels and four UHF channels

UHF. Pfffttt....
That was modern technology. 98% of the TV sets at the time couldn't receive it. Heathkit sold a lot of converter kits.

We had one UHF channel. Terrible reception, all snow and never any sound even with someone constantly moving the rabbit ears.
