Hello everyone! I grew up in Washington and my when I graduated, my dad gifted me a 67' New Yorker 4-Door Hardtop! I enlisted in the Marine Corps and got sent all across the country. The car sat in a garage for about 7 years with only the occasional cold start. Now that I own a home and paved my driveway, I sent out for my precious and got it delivered this week (shipping is a nightmare!). The car for the most part is in good condition. It is definitely due for a tune-up! I am very new to working on cars so excuse me if I sound like a noob! Aside from the tune up (because it idles kinda rough), 3 of the 4 windows are dead and 1 barely moves as if it is begging to be put out of its misery. My laziness made me search for whole assembly replacements but there aren't many parts I could find online so I'm guessing I will have to gut them and replace parts as needed (dang it lol). The second item I figured I must replace is that insulation under the hood. Some mice got into the engine bay and made themselves at home. Third, the brake pedal is loose at first then stops and you have to apply some real good pressure to stop (anyone know what it might be?) Lastly, I would like to install some sort of stereo system so I can play music other than the AM radio. I know FM transmitters are a thing but what is a way to work around the stock AM radio? I do prefer to keep the car looking original so maybe some small speakers that would fit where the original equipment fits?

I would appreciate and be thankful for all recommendations and tips/tricks you all can offer!

I haven't taken any pictures yet but I have the exact exterior color with black vinyl top and wheel covers pictured below. My interior however is black.

Indeed, welcome to the site from the Motor City!
Sounds like you will need to have your power brake booster rebuilt. Maybe start first by checking the fluid level in the reservoir and top it off if it’s not full being careful to not spill any brake fluid on your paint because it will strip it in short order. If the fluid level is down check the system for leaks, fix any you find and bleed the whole system
A lot of us use a company called The Power Brake Booster Exchange if in fact your booster is shot.

There’s lots of good info about your power windows on this site, just use the search tool with keywords “power window repair”.

Welcome from the Keystone State. Thanks for your service. :usflag:

We will certainly be wanting to see pictures of the actual car.

As Detmatt said you're probably looking at a booster rebuild. A rebuilding window motors. I think @Big_John has a couple of good write ups on them.

As for tunes. You will probably find it has one speaker in the dash. You could pull your AM radio and have it upgraded to be AM/FM with blue tooth.... Others have done this I think it runs about $400 to do. You will probably find that there are two existing holes on the rear deck that will accept 6x9 speakers. I built a console to sit on the center hump that holds a radio, some gauges and usb charging ports.

Thank you, sir! I will try that out.

Welcome from Berryville, Virginia. I also suggest attending the Chrysler show at Carlisle. Its the biggest and best Mopar show on the planet and its an easy drive from much of Virginia.

Welcome for NYC.. from one service member to another!! Welcome to the site. You’re certainly in the right place to learn everything you wanna know about your car. plenty of members on here that have your same car or same components as your car and can answer many of your questions and concerns.

As John mentioned, I would certainly consider going to Carlisle this year. You’ll get to meet a lot of the guys from the site and see many Cbodies like yours..
