I have a 1967 newport custom 4dr. The fuel tank has rust in it. I have been running 3 to 4 fuel filters 2 before fuel pump and 2 before carb. I've replace fuel pump once a years and it's going bad again. So now it's time to bit the bullet and buy a fuel tank. My issue is 370. On ebay or 450. On Mancini for one. I've seen b body tanks for 120. Or even a fuel cell for that or less. Would a b body tank fit up? Or anyone know a place for a reasonable priced c body tank that doesnt profile against c body?

I replaced the sending unit and ring about 2 years or so ago so think I will reuse if I can clean it well. But thank you I'll look there

Try looking for a radiator shop that renews gas tanks. My work had a 68 Buick Wildcat and the tank is no longer available. Local rad shop flushed out the original with no issues.
I did the original tank for the 69 Fury and was 250.00 cheaper than a new tank.
No leaks and no more rust inside.

Bite the bullet. No more trashed pumps or filters. Be $$$ ahead 2 years down the road.

best to replace and go new......should be repops out there......peace of mind......you know you wana

That's a "We dont wanna do it" kinda price.
I paid 450.00 CDN ( 321.26 US) to get mine flushed and treated.
Yeah I dont want to spend alot on a fuel tank but also tried of fighting filters and pumps plus dont want to damage the new carburetor.

Van's has been the consistent "lower price provider" for fuel tanks. IF you notice the part number of the tank you need, no matter who sells them, they are ALL the same part number, so they are ALL the same tank. For different prices.

In the earlier days of tank internal coatings, some would disintegrate and clog up the fuel filters. The absolute best re-finish is the Gas Tank ReNEW process, where they cut the tank apart, coat it, and then weld it back together. BUT that's expensive and is usually done on tanks for which there are no repros available.

You can also look at www.rockauto.com for a reference price, but I believe that Vans has free shipping in their mix, too.

Reason I've been looking, too, is that I will need a few tanks, all the CR20 I believe. They are usually less than or right at $300.00. For my '67 Newport 383 4bbl and my '70 Monaco 383.

There's a thread in here about changing the tank and all of the fuel lines.

As mentioned, you'll be $$$ ahead to go ahead and replace the tank, rather than trying to make the old one work a little bit longer. Consider a new tank an INVESTMENT in future driving peace-of-mind. Just shop for the best total price! As everybody's re-selling the Spectra Premium tanks and such.
