I love posts about Gesswein. I have such great memories of growing up near there & all the cool cars that were around when I was a kid. My uncle has a real nice 300C. My uncles are HUGE Mopar guys. They all still live 10 miles from Gesswein.
I tried to buy that car 2-3 years ago from the original owner. She wanted $25k. I couldn't get it through her head it was a 75 hundred dollar car. I guess Gesswein is a lot more persuasive than me.
My pop-pop bought a 74 Monaco new in that color, it was a four door with a 400 4 barrel. I was supposed to get it when his time was up. He outlived the car and traded the old dodge on a Caddy
The owner has said many times his primary interest is not in selling the cars. He buys them because he likes them, likes to display them and they are used to create showroom traffic in his new car store. I bet he even uses them for tax purposes somehow.
Dave, he's a collector and he owns a very successful new car store. He's not a classic car dealer. Yes, the cars do change hands over time but no more so than you or I would if we had large collections.
